District 123 Education Foundation to host Bowling for Balloon Brigades

The District 123 Education Foundation will host it’s Bowling for Balloon Brigades event on Saturday, Nov 10 from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. This adult-only fundraiser seeks to raise money for the District 123 Education Foundation.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Education Foundation’s mini-grant program for District 123 schools.

Attendees will enjoy two games of bowling with shoes, a pizza buffet, split the pot and basket raffles and a cash bar.

“The District 123 Education Foundation is excited to host this event and thoroughly appreciates the support of the community in this endeavor,” said Education Foundation President Sofia Georgelos, “We hope that this will be a fun night of bowling and community in support of our district’s foundation.”

Grants up to $2000 are awarded to faculty members of Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 by means of Balloon Brigades. The Balloon Brigade is a small group of Education Foundation members that surprise the grant awardee with a balloon filled classroom ceremony officially awarding the grant.

District 123 Education Foundation mini-grants seek to support the exploration of ideas that promote creativity, innovation and enhance the opportunities and resources available to students and teachers. The mini-grant requests align with the D123 strategic plan, curriculum, and vision for teaching and learning as well as the Educational Foundation goals, and address one or more of the following categories:

  • Academic enrichment in the classroom.
  • Student social/emotional development.
  • Home/School connections.
  • Innovative approaches to differentiated instruction.
  • Community Connections.
